Gemstones of Paris – Part I

Hello, My Lovelies!

This year is quite unusual and I find myself travelling more than ever, and I am loving it! πŸ™‚ Recently my better half (let’s call him Mr.G) took me on a lovely short break in Paris via Amsterdam. Every day of the trip was a fragrant adventure… πŸ™‚

As we had very little time to roam around Amsterdam, I was very lucky to bump into Marjo Parfumerie in Chinatown.

It is a great perfume store and has loads to offer, including top brands like Amouage, Hermes, to mention just a few.. It was amazing to find such gems like Gucci Eau de Parfum I by Gucci, Diva by Emanuel Ungaro, even Chamade by Guerlain.

I must say, I am very lucky that Marjo Parfumerie is not delivering to Ireland, otherwise, I would be a very regular online customer…. πŸ˜€

[Edit: 22nd June/ I am very happy to amend my blog post and announce that deliveries to Ireland are available!!! πŸ˜€ I am over the moon!!! πŸ™‚ if anyone is wondering about the T&C, drop a line at Β klantenservice@parfumerie.nl Β and they will gladly help you out. Happy shopping! πŸ˜‰ ]

When in Paris, first of all I needed to visit the Guerlain store on Rue Saint-Honore after reading all about it in The Perfume Society post.

And when I got there, the store was so magical, precious, luxuriously exclusive, that I felt so tiny among all the bottles…there were so many of them! πŸ™‚ The most fascinating view was a giant perfume bottle with a tap – pour as much as you want! Imagine having one at home? πŸ˜€ If I am lucky enough to visit this store again, I will definitely have to sit through the whole blind sniffing process just to see which Guerlain perfume suits me the most…out of curiosity… πŸ™‚ (..Mr.G, if you’re reading this, my birthday is in November..just saying… πŸ˜‰ )

Next day I decided to go to a flea market, located near Porte de Vanves metro station, it is open only Saturdays and Sundays. Well, you do need to get there quite early if you want to find something…. Obviously, I got there for 1pm when everybody was wrapping up their antiques, getting ready to leave… So, I didn’t expect much.. It was more of an experience and a different side of Paris I was looking for.. And as I strolled around the market, taking everything in, observing and absorbing the culture, I came across one table with a pile of little boxes with mini bottles in them…….. You cannot imagine! Original miniature perfume bottles! Just lying like that! With perfume in them! I was like a kid jumping inside – I couldn’t believe πŸ˜€ I probably spent more than half an hour looking through the boxes… Magie Noir by Lancome, Knowing by Estee Lauder, Venice by Yves Rocher, Turbulences by Revillon, Miss Dior by Christian Dior (with a glass stopper)… That was heaven…. πŸ™‚

And then round the corner I found another stall – a little bit more elaborate, presented in a very pretty way with tiny perfume bottles lying in cute boxes with glass displays.. Opium by YSL, Ispahan by Yves Rocher, L’Heure Bleue by Guerlain, to name just a few… πŸ™‚ The sales lady was very kind and, I believe, is a collector herself. You may visit her page here πŸ™‚

I was beating myself for not arriving at the market earlier because, God knows, I might have found something even more exclusive… But I did get what I actually really needed – that miniature world brought me so much joy that day…

My journey around Paris will continue in another blog post, where I would like to introduce you to my latest discovery that I can honestly call – a true gemstone… Stay tuned πŸ™‚

Love, J.
