Happy New Year to you all! And thank you for coming back to this tiny blog; sometimes put aside but never forgotten.
I was blessed with the chance to visit my home country last year, spend some quality time with the people I haven’t seen for so long… A lot has changed in that country… Not only architecture and prices, but also it’s nature and people.. I probably am repeating myself about that change however it is the most visible and most perceptible thing I happened to experience during my trip. And – change is good! I am so happy to say from my own experience that not staying in one spot is always a million times better. It might take time to notice the benefits but they are definitely there 🙂
So today, with this first post in 2018, I would like invite you all to start whatever you were always afraid of starting. I invite you to be the change. Because the first step is always the hardest. And because I might also be the one who is afraid to make it…
Happy New Year, my dear friends! May it bring happiness and love around you all.
Stay safe and warm! ❤
P.S. My #SOTD – a very old and forgotten gem which has been sitting quietly on the shelf for a good while… Estee Lauder – Youth Dew Amber Nude.
Before this summer ends, even though it only just started in Ireland, I have decided to post a list of the best perfumes this season! I noticed that it really depends on the heat during the day, that is why I divide my list into two groups: perfumes I would recommend for a very hot day, and the ones that, to my mind, are more suitable for a milder day / warm summer morning. In no particular order, here they are! 🙂
Best fragrances for a hot summer day:
Dolce&Gabbana – Light Blue
Dior – Escale a Portofino
Parfums de Nicolai – Eau d’Ete
Yves Rocher – Naturelle
Fragrances of Ireland – INIS Energy of the Sea
Hermes – Eau des Merveilles
Jo Malone – Wood Sage & Sea Salt
To be honest, they all remind me of the sea, with massive waves crashing on the beach… and if I cannot physically get there, I reach for one of these babies… 🙂
This year is quite unusual and I find myself travelling more than ever, and I am loving it! 🙂 Recently my better half (let’s call him Mr.G) took me on a lovely short break in Paris via Amsterdam. Every day of the trip was a fragrant adventure… 🙂
As we had very little time to roam around Amsterdam, I was very lucky to bump into Marjo Parfumerie in Chinatown.
It is a great perfume store and has loads to offer, including top brands like Amouage, Hermes, to mention just a few.. It was amazing to find such gems like Gucci Eau de Parfum I by Gucci, Diva by Emanuel Ungaro, even Chamade by Guerlain.
January blues? No way! The sun has never been brighter and it feels like the Spring has finally arrived (at least for a day or two.. 🙂 )
To be honest, I was so looking forward to a white Christmas, spritzing some Coco Chanel on for the New Year’s Eve.. But Mother Nature had other plans and all I could think of for the past few days was something fresh, cosy, lightly sweet, and flowery…
So, the beginning of the New Year has brought me three jewels – Classique Eau de Parfum by Jean Paul Gaultier, Oriens by Van Cleef & Arpel, Beautiful by Estee Lauder – and I am thouroghly enjoying every single drop of them. 🙂 They were sitting quietly on the shelf and waiting for me to discover them. It is amazing how some fragrances tend to “hide” until that perfect moment.. 😉
It is extremely hard to pick just one scent for a special night… And as the festive season just begins, there is going to be more and more of them nights and more chances to wear your favourite fragrances!
Here are my first favourite three festive perfumes – Poeme by Lancome, Youth Dew Amber Nude by Estee Lauder, and Opium EDP by Yves Saint Laurent.
Poeme would be the lightest of them, more floral and gentle; it is suitable for all occasions. It reminds me of a quiet January morning in Vienna… Beautiful architecture and history of the city, cozy coffee shops on every corner, and lovely people… I wish I could come back there just for a day 🙂
