Weekend with Nejma

With one eclipse behind us and another one on the way, the time in between feels rather tense and sensitive, yet buzzing, even sizzling!

And I am kicking off this February properly – with three new serums from a French niche brand Nejma Collection. Their perfumes are inspired by the Far East and the Oriental Fairy tale about a beautiful, radiant woman called Nejma and her love story. Hence, the name Nejma meaning Lucky Star.

Today I would like to introduce you to Nejma 7, Le Parfum D’Alice, and Le Delicieux.

The other day I shoved a chocolate-coconut cake into the oven and went off to try out the Nejma 7 on my skin. This beauty is one of the seven sisters in the Oud Collection – one of the seven different fragrances based on Oud. So, here I was, rocking Sister Seven, enjoying the freshness of citrus at the beginning, quietly listening how it will develop on my wrist, when a bomb of cacao and coconut hit me! There was so much happiness in this gourmand juice! …and then the timer for the cake went off πŸ˜€ I literary could not believe the weirdest and most delicious coincidence πŸ˜€ Yep, my kitchen and my wrist smelled so alike!

..Nejma 7 is a wonderfully sweet and joyful fragrance, developing really nicely on the skin. Oudy patchouli helps to calm it a little bit for the evening, so the dry-down is purely divine…

Le Parfum D’Alice is my most favourite one from the trio.. It accompanied me through the whole day today and there was never a dull moment. Every time I sniffed my wrist, I was experiencing something totally new.. Every time…

The composition of this fragrance to me is a true masterpiece.. It firstly blossomed on my skin with a bunch of fruits and berries. The next thing I new, the juicy sweetness was blending with joyful peonies and roses…

During the day I felt was like I was at a party, the Mad Hatter’s party πŸ™‚ And there was Alice – like the best friend – laughing, smiling, dancing with me, running wild or just staying still, and watching birds fly by…

And slowly, over time, when the base notes started appearing, I was yet again pleasantly surprised, calmed and re-freshened with touches of vetiver and my beloved patchouli… Funnily enough, I still could not figure out the last addition to this beauty – something known to the very core…but so so quiet…so gentle…like a whiff of warm woody aroma coming from very far away… like a dream that slowly dissipates from your memory upon waking up…leaving just a trail of softly pleasant feeling.Β Cognac oak barrel… What a surprise!

And finnaly, I am closing the night with this sweet juice in a white bottle – the delightfully delicious Le Delicieux.

It is so lovely and comforting.. It reminds me of warm sunny evenings in spring, walks on the beach.. sand running through my toes..

And mandarins, loads of mandarins!… πŸ™‚

Even the coldest beaches in Ireland can transform into something cozy, warming, magical..

Oh, sweet vanilla!

(…There’s a sudden cold gust of wind out of nowhere… So playful! Patchouli?… Sneaky!…)

Then again I am back to soft caramel and touches of rose, like diving into fluffy clouds…

Let me just stay there in that beautiful candy-pink dream…

Good night, beautiful people!… Sweet dreams…

On another note, if you fancy a good read (probably with another cup of tea… πŸ™‚ ), I have found this very interesting interview with Nejma’s perfumer Alice Lavenat. It is fascinating to know a little bit more about the person behind the fragrance, their background, their reasons for certain choices, etc. Definitely worth the read πŸ™‚

P.S. As there is no official stockist for Nejma in Ireland just yet, ordering online from their own website is as easy πŸ™‚ http://nejmacollection.com/shop/

P.S.S. A huge thank you to the team behind Nejma Collection for the perfume samples.Β I truly enjoyed getting to know this Lucky Star πŸ™‚ ❀

Weekend with Nejma

My Midnight Burberry

After a late night at the gym, all I could think of was a very hot long bath… A little ‘me’ time to let the muscles relax and put all negativity aside – how unfit / slow / weak I am if compared to others… Water is my element. I could bathe and shower for ages! I could swim in lakes and swimming pools, and paddle in the sea without ever getting bored… It is such a mood booster! Water helps me to get back to my own self…

So, this late night when the moon is bright like never before, I reached for My Burberry shower oil. To be honest, I don’t like those annoying kind of shower gels which fragrance never goes away.. But putting My Burberry on, with the thought that I’ll be heading to bed with a lovely scent on my skin, was a totally different story because this time I was also spraying a little of the perfume itself. I received this lovely gift from my husband ages ago, and am so happy to be able to intensify this beautiful scent even more.

The scent of the shower oil has disappeared after an hour but it left the skin feeling so soft, rejuvenated, and happy. I spritzed a little bit of eau de toilette on the insides of my elbows and the aroma is still gently lingering when I put my nose up close. This sweet creamy scent is so perfect for a late night…

My Burberry shower oil + eau de toilette .. what a lovely way to end the day…

I am very happy with it πŸ™‚ and even if it is eau de toilette, the longevity is fantastic. It does need a little bit of time to settle on my skin, while something cold and herbal (maybe it is the note of chamomile?) evaporates… But nonetheless, I love this smooth, woody, earthy perfume on me… And am very glad with this addition to the collection πŸ™‚

I placed it in the picture together with Opium (EDP, by YSL) as they are quite similar to me.

Which of the Aromatics is your favourite? πŸ™‚

Last Chance to Get Serge and Annick

Collector alert!

New Friend at the perfume table | Β©BonjourPerfume

Just a quick note to folks traveling to / near Dublin – House of Fraser store in Dundrum Town Centre (exit 13 off M50) has a very few sales items left, including Christmas gift boxes. But the ones I would recommend you to seek and grab while they’re still there are Annick Goutal and Serge Lutens perfumes. Majority – half price.

The store is discounting the older version of Serge Lutens fragrances, all 50ml, price raging between 70 – 80 euros.

From Annick Goutal range I noticed a couple of bottles from Les Absolus collection, priced at approx. 100 euros for 100 ml (down from 200 euros), also some other of her bottles, like Petite Cherie, Songes, Sables.

Anyone still on the look out for these beauties, anyone collecting, or really craving for a true niche perfume experience that youΒ maybe couldn’t afford before? Head to Dundrum shopping centre! Once they’re gone – they’re gone!

P.S. Prices are correct at the time of writing the blog post, 18 January, 2018.

Manor of Pakruojis (Pakruojo Dvaras) – a magic potion land….
I would like to share with you a few pictures from my recent trip to this Manor inΒ Pakruojis, Lithuania.
It is a beautiful mansion with its rich history and a special room for the in-house perfumer… I recommend to reserve a whole day for this beautiful place – it is amazing any time of the year!

Borrowed from my husband’s stash… I used to think it was too strong for me, too powerful, too manly.. However, I love it now πŸ˜€ and I don’t think he’ll mind too much if I spritz this beautiful balsamic woody African beast once in a while…. πŸ™‚ we can share! πŸ™‚

Thank you, Bertrand Duchaufour! I am heading to check out Patchouli Patch and Nuit de Tubereuse right now! πŸ™‚ ❀
