My Midnight Burberry

After a late night at the gym, all I could think of was a very hot long bath… A little ‘me’ time to let the muscles relax and put all negativity aside – how unfit / slow / weak I am if compared to others… Water is my element. I could bathe and shower for ages! I could swim in lakes and swimming pools, and paddle in the sea without ever getting bored… It is such a mood booster! Water helps me to get back to my own self…

So, this late night when the moon is bright like never before, I reached for My Burberry shower oil. To be honest, I don’t like those annoying kind of shower gels which fragrance never goes away.. But putting My Burberry on, with the thought that I’ll be heading to bed with a lovely scent on my skin, was a totally different story because this time I was also spraying a little of the perfume itself. I received this lovely gift from my husband ages ago, and am so happy to be able to intensify this beautiful scent even more.

The scent of the shower oil has disappeared after an hour but it left the skin feeling so soft, rejuvenated, and happy. I spritzed a little bit of eau de toilette on the insides of my elbows and the aroma is still gently lingering when I put my nose up close. This sweet creamy scent is so perfect for a late night…

My Burberry shower oil + eau de toilette .. what a lovely way to end the day…

Bonjour Project – Day 2

Bonjour, my darlings..

This has been a day of getting lost in the streets of Old Town Vilnius; sampling foods that trigger many memories; and skin pampering… πŸ™‚

1. #SOTD Love, Chloe – Chloe

Chloe Absolu de Parfum and Love, Chloe | photo by BonjourPerfume

I brought this beauty with me and today was perfect for it – the rain felt very heavy, nearly like lumps of snow, but it was warm enough and I needed something refreshing yet warming at the same time. I was so happy that I brought my umbrella with me too, however, watching the city disappear slowly in the dark, and the streets and shops light up, it felt comforting. Just walking around and letting the inner silence lead the way was so relieving.. A lot is said about being in the moment, the trick is to shut down one’s mind..

#SOTN Chloe Absolu de Parfum – Chloe

A totally different sister than Love, Chloe – a patchouli / rose / vanilla blend makes it more of a down-to-earth fragrance…grounding, sharp, very clear, complete, absolute, like an Armani suit… πŸ™‚

2. Little discoveries of the day

Upon coming to Lithuania, I was so looking forward to getting hand and body creams, facial scrubs and washes, etc etc. There’s a huge selection of products of highest quality, all made in LT, using mainly natural products, and all for 1-3 euros. (Some highest priced items would be up to 7-8 euros..) And what’s most important, it does all what it says on the tin – moisturizing, rejuvenating, gentle to your skin… without killing its natural balance.. So there I am, proudly walking past L’Oreal Elvital and Head & Shoulders, and picking up Margarita or Rasa brands πŸ™‚ And whenever you come to visit this beautiful country, please, don’t shy away from them too. I can promise you won’t regret it πŸ™‚

3. Something to be thankful for

Today I am thankful for the people who might be tired or angry or upset, but who still find the will and strength to smile genuinely, or help others, even with directions.. I am thankful for the kindness of people. Especially, to the ones working in customer service – you are the carrier of hope for society… ❀

P.s. oh yes, and this is just a little taster of what evenings are like up here.. πŸ˜‰

(not all gone! πŸ™‚ Like one famous lady said about French women on tv today – if they have a big dinner, the next two days – they’re on salads and water πŸ™‚ so, balance is key! πŸ™‚ )

Goodnight , peeps.. sweet dreams..

Bonjour Project – Day 2

Bonjour Project

Hi all,

Bonjour Project | photo by BonjourPerfume

I’m setting myself off on a little project. Made a nice cup of tea, and here it goes..

For the following few weeks I will be posting miniature blogs from my day, all related to fragrance, in one way or another..

1. Scent of the Day (#SOTD)

I’m starting and ending this day with a spritz of Coco by Chanel, a classic and all time favorite.. ❀

2. Little discoveries of the day

Today was a lovely day in Vilnius, Lithuanian capital. I popped into Douglas – a cosmetics, make up, and perfume store. There are very many beautiful things there, from usual fragrances that you’d find in Irish pharmacies, to brands like Molinard, Nejma Collection, Nobile 1942, to mention just a few.. and according to their magazine, they also stock The Merchant of Venice – a brand which I have never laid my hands (or nose πŸ™‚ ) on yet – so that’s definitely something I will be on the look out.

Also, I found a Lithuanian version of L’Officiel magazine, November- December issue for 3.90 euros. What’s not to like? πŸ™‚ I have flicked through it and saw a lovely interview with Francis Kurkdjian, the nose and creator at Maison Francis Kurkdjian (MFK) whom I had an exclusive chance to meet in Paris last year. He has visited Vilnius recently, thanks to Creme de la Creme Haute Parfumerie organized event. So, I am looking forward to tomorrow’s coffee morning already – it will be an interesting read for sure!

Obviously, I had to stop by at Creme de la Creme in Panorama Shopping Centre πŸ™‚ By the way, this shopping centre and the store itself, both deserve a separate blog post each, as there is so much fashion and class in there! I nearly got lost maybe three times walking around in the building, and that was just first floor… πŸ™‚ Panorama is celebrating their birthday this weekend – so discounts up to 20%-50% in nearly all stores! Something definitely worth planning ahead for next year πŸ˜‰

But Creme de la Creme literally blew my mind… just the amount of different perfume brands!!, and only a few of them I am familiar with… (everything in its own time, I suppose).. Parfums de Marly, Amouage, Carner Barcelona, Frederic Malle, and of course Maison Francis Kurkdjian.. I was very happy to see Grand Soir and Petit Matin, along with Baccarat Rouge 540 among that huge collection of exclusive fragrances. (By the way, Lumiere Noire pour femme is on the blotter in the picture – a beautiful rose patchouli πŸ™‚ )

The third perfume store of the day – Rituals, again in Panorama. And I just love Rituals, this gorgeous brand from the Netherlands! πŸ™‚ they have two new oriental fragrances in store – Victoire D’Ambre (which is more feminine) and Palace D’Ambre (more of a unisex amber), both 39 euros for 50ml, or a travel size 10ml (cutest bottles ever!) for only 9.50 euros – a bargain and quality πŸ™‚ ❀

3. Something to be thankful for

This day was full of aromas.. not only fragrance but also coffee, candles, leather shoes, traffic, long forgotten foods, and most of all – the freshness of chilly autumn.. it feels like the cold air freezes your nose and lungs, but then it is so much more wonderful to come back to a cozy warm home… and put the kettle on for a nice cup of tea πŸ™‚ (I must be really becoming Irish at this stage… πŸ™‚ ) so, I am thankful for this lovely opportunity to come back to this beautiful fragrant city Vilnius, as every time it surprises me in so many different ways… ❀

Grand so… I’m off to bed… πŸ™‚ and if all is well, I will come back tomorrow with another blog post.

Bonjour Project

Cashmere Sweater

My dear perfume lovers,

With a heavy heart  I must admit, I have been away for a long while, not able to write another post..

Though there rarely has been a day without perfume, however, the biggest struggle was putting the words together. To be honest with you, I feel like I have lost that enlightenment, that sensation of joy when a new perfume comes out. I have lost the desire to know what it would make me feel like that day.. This was partly because very many perfumes, especially new releases, started smelling nearly exactly the same…overly sweet lavender caramel… πŸ™‚ But this inability to write also got me thinking..

At the end of the day, people when asked about their ultimate goal in life tend to look for happiness. However, there will never be a big chunk of it sitting and waiting at the end of the road.. The little pieces of happiness, I think, we pick up every single day. It is the matter of learning how to keep them, let them build up, so that we could be happy with ourselves every single day throughout the journey… And the hardest part for me at that moment was finding that happy place hidden inside, and sustaining it.. A place of inner silence where I would know – the outside world is only the reflection of my thoughts and my state of mind…

We grow and learn and move on through struggles, challenges, and experiences. However, that part of learning from experiences and moving on we tend to forget.. So, here I am, moving on…

Finally, on a lighter note πŸ™‚ , yesterday I uncovered a long forgotten beauty – George Rech Muse Poudree, created by perfumer Thierry Romeo. It helped me awaken that quiet feeling inside.. πŸ™‚

The fragrance itself, if you haven’t tried it before, is powdery sweet, with tones of bergamot, violet, cedar, and over time developing into a soft vanilla / musk skin scent. For some reason I always associate it with a baby pink cashmere sweater πŸ™‚ I have seen Georges Rech perfumes in Ireland only at TK Maxx stores, and they are not that dear ( lists Muse Poudree at 12Β£ – 15€ for a 100ml). However, I am still amazed that Fragrantica has a very small database about this brand, especially when the perfumes are so lovely.. πŸ™‚ ❀ Check out Parfumo Community for more information on Georges Rech fragrances πŸ™‚

It is a beautiful autumn outside, a sunny and warm day today, and I am so grateful for being a part of this wonderful world around me..

Sending love to you all,
