Long Lost Scents

With the beginning of 2021 I decided to start a project of revisiting my perfume collection and writing a post about my findings. It might take me a while but I think it is necessary I do so.

First of all, Bonjour Perfume blog was created for this particular reason – it was meant to be like my diary about fragrances. And second of all, as much as I love niche perfumes, I realized how closed off and limited I became – circulating probably only among ten bottles, forgetting and pushing aside all other fragrances in the collection just because they were designer scents, easily available in stores, not niche…

Well, I am not saying “no” to niche perfumes at the moment either, I will be posting about them, too. However, I feel the need to go back to my long lost scents, pay them a visit and see how much they and I have changed over the years… Whether I still like them, or maybe the friendship is dead and gone…

And to kick this project off, I chose DKNY Delicious Night by Donna Karan. I honestly do not remember the time I bought this bottle… So, trying it on my skin did feel like it was for the first time. Pleasantly surprised, I loved it! DKNY Delicious Night is really delicious. Sweet and fruity like thick blackcurrant jam with a touch of spice. I find it great for colder weather, as it sticks with you through the day. Personally, too sweet for me for evening wear, but a great scent nonetheless.

It is really hard to judge how long this project will last. But as I also need to sharpen my photography skills, I do hope, time permitting, I will find patience and determination to follow it through.

So, wish me luck! 🙂 And let me know if you also have a stash of fragrances which need some loving 🙂

  1. Good luck! And yes, I have a stash. I’m going to try to work my way through a lot of samples before buying any new bottles this year, but I will also enjoy the bottles I have. I also plan to try to write more about fragrances that are “bargain beauties”, given the ongoing economic insecurity many people face, as well as fragrances by perfumers who are people of color, and more clearly identifying unisex fragrances on my blog. I actually think fragrances are basically unisex whether I say so or not, but some readers may want it stated. Happy 2021! I look forward to reading your thoughts on your own stash.
