At the start of 2020 none of us could have predicted the extremely different year ahead. A year of a lot of uncertainty, pain, and sorrow. But also hope, kindness, and desire for change. Only through the hardship we tend to evolve, though. So, as this year is nearing the end, I am certain, each one of us have been through their own hell and back, and now more than ever we have learnt the most about ourselves, as single individuals and as a society.

Wild Rose, the newest creation of the Irish perfume house The Burren Perfumery, could not have come at a better time.

No, not only because we have Christmas coming… To me personally, this fragrance has a different meaning – this little white flower, this tiny rose that carries a very gentle, sweet scent and grows at the sideroads everywhere in Ireland, this wild rose is the symbol of this year – a sign of hope and beauty. And I can only applaud and congratulate Sadie Chowen for making this perfume happen.

For the first time over the last 12 years, I was able to go for walks early in the mornings during this summer. I was able to explore the Irish countryside and observe its beauty. One of the highlights of those walks was a discovery of the wild rose – a gentle, fragile, tiny little thing that carried a scent so sweet and creamy.

And how delighted I was when I found out that The Burren Perfumery has created a scent dedicated to this pretty flower! The fragrance is made in Ireland using 100% natural ingredients, 77% of which are of organic origin.

As per brand, “Wild Rose opens with sparkling notes of pink grapefruit and bergamot, heralding precious, delicate rose centifolia. Soft honey notes of rose damascena blend with sensuous sandalwood, warm beeswax and smooth benzoin. A hint of gaicwood is brushed by the green freshness of angelica. The fragile touch of natural ambrette seed brings richness to the perfume but remains discreet and delicate.”

Wild Rose is a delicate fragrance, just as the flower itself. Its aroma is soft, sweet, creamy, and slightly soapy. It evolves beautifully on the skin, and lasts about 3-4 hrs. I love that there’s no sharpness to it, too, which I usually notice in synthetic scents. Wild Rose stays close to the skin, which to me is very romantic… Wearing this perfume feels like getting a hug from your best friend… If you ever smelled the wild rose in nature, this fragrance resembles it perfectly.

And now, as the year is uncontrollably coming to an end, I cannot help but smile… I don’t want to wait another 12 years to discover something else amazing about this island… I want to experience life as it happens in front of me, right now.. We don’t need another pandemic to learn how precious and fragile human life and nature are. We need to learn from our own mistakes and hopefully realize that each and single one of us can make an impact on Earth for the better. Let’s celebrate life! Let’s celebrate Nature!
