It is amazing how weather can affect your sense of smell… Especially, skin’s chemistry with perfume…

This 2019 summer has brought very nice and unusually warm weather for Ireland. I am delighted the temperature didn’t go over +22 degrees C as I just wouldn’t be able to handle such heat. Over ten years living in this country now; it has changed my ability to adjust to extreme temperature differences…
Early July I had a chance to quickly hop on a two-day trip to London. It was quite an experience! I know, with only +25 degrees during the day… π , and nothing compared to the real heat wave that followed few weeks later with scorching nearly +40 C… But my body’s sensitivity to heat and smells was tested to the limits while in London π . [Pregnancy is another factor… but I might talk about it in another post π ]
London has a lot of beautiful things to offer, from theatres to concerts to shops and restaurants. It is definitely the capital of multiculturalism! I especially like coming back to Covent Garden π And, the evening would not be complete without a visit to Bloom Perfumery
While in store, I got a chance to test a good few fragrances from brands like Mendittorosa, Zoologist, Carner Barcelona, etc. One brand in particular intrigued me – Vero Profumo. I have read about it online and was a little bit familiar with their fragrance ‘Rubj’ from another trip to Lithuania years ago (Visokiu Daiktu Krautuvele in Vilnius). So it was a lovely opportunity to sniff some other creations from this perfume house, too.

Rozy eau de Parfum captured my attention the most. On a hot and humid day this fragrance literally punched me in the face with a bag of close-to-suffocating sweet powder! But over time it evolved into a beautiful smooth, velvety, creamy rosy scent.. Nearly balsamic and full of essential oils! And I loved it!
And now, fast forward one month, I am picking the tester sample I brought with me from Bloom Perfumery, and am spritzing once on each wrist expecting to get the similar powdery sensation… You cannot imagine my shock! π
#/’.;.’,’;#A’#x, This is a totally different perfume! #’sas.c;a’s;c,’,;’c π π
Tonight (in Dublin with +18 degrees) I am embraced by a sweet, fruity, and very slightly powdery rose scent that has a very pleasant sandalwood undertone, reminding me of incense… And also there’s honey… Some half an hour later, the perfume settles into a light but also more powdery rose scent… Very attractive, very mellow, gentle creation… It is beautiful as it is but definitely doesn’t remind me of anything that I’ve experienced in London! π I cannot say that the weather is to be blamed… π only partially influencing… π
Perfume is art. However, others might think differently and disagree with this thought, but to me it is alive.. It has the presence, its own mood, and now I can see how different it gets… My hormones might be playing here a major role π and I am even more intrigued to see how my skin is going to react to Rozy in winter and spring next year… π
Youβre expecting! Yes, we need to know more when you are ready. Blessings to you! My own experience, a longish while ago, is that pregnancy affected my sense of smell a lot.

Oh thank you so much, you’re very sweet π β€ …and did your usual sense of smell come back after the pregnancy or did it change ? At the moment it is so lovely as I don't know what to expect – all the perfumes are like new to me.. π

It returned to normal, so if youβre enjoying it now, think about writing down your impressions! That would be so interesting. Some people find that scents they love smell bad to them during pregnancy. For me, that was chicken soup, which I usually love. It was the only smell that made me feel nauseous.

At the moment I just can’t stand a tobaco scent in perfumes.. but this whole not-liking thing changes sooo much and so often! I must do a separate pregnancy related post π thank you so much for your comments π
