This year is drawing to an end, and it is quite unbelievable how quick! With the festive season approaching faster than I can grasp on to the saddle, and with only three weeks until the start of 2019, let me introduce you to another delicious fragrance which I am sure you will enjoy.

Cap Neroli was launched just this year and, as I visited Esxence show in Milan in April, I was able to bring this little sample with me home.
I got fascinated with this perfume brand years ago as I was just starting my fragrance journey. Parfums de Nicolai were my first surprise and unexpected discovery in Paris. The discovery which up until this day I continue to explore… 🙂 (You may find it interesting to read my introduction to Parfums de Nicolai over here. It was a very short perfume related trip to Paris back in 2016.)

Cap Neroli is a captivating and alluring scent of aromatic citrus. During the summer heat it has a cooling effect due to rosemary and mint notes, and it tends to be way sweeter, too. The floral notes of jasmine and orange blossom are more distinguished during the warmer months of the year.
It is quite a bitter scent, and I find it quite earthy, too. As it is a chilly December day today in a wet and stormy Ireland, my nose is more attracted to the notes of oakmoss, musk, and amber, which form a base of this fragrance… I can detect very little floral tones, mainly neroli, the sweet scent of orange, and touch of mint here and there….
I find this perfume very well balanced, like all the fragrances from Parfums de Nicolai. Cap Neroli would not satisfy your taste buds if you are into sharp and crispy, screechy synthetic citrus scents…. This Neroli dedicated creation is softly bitter-sweet, deep, mature… Nothing in it feels rushed or out of place or unnecessary… I love its balance! It is a long lasting scent with a very pleasant soft projection.

Over time I am beginning to realize that even though I may not fall in love with Parfums de Nicolai aromas instantly, however, I have learnt to discover them anew every time I would come back to them…. It is as if those scents, each carrying a different story, would grow on me… It is as if with time I am learning to uncover their texture, originality, depth, authenticity..
The perfumer Patricia de Nicolai is a true artist. Every single time I am amazed with her creativity. Her brand is not following any trends or fashion, and this makes the perfumes even more enjoyable. They are very accessible, long lasting, and with the incredible French perfume quality – become unique and exclusive. With every new creation Parfums de Nicolai deliver brand’s DNA in another amazing way.

[…] Cap Neroli by Parfums de Nicolai came to me at the Esxence Perfume exhibition. Even now, as I close my eyes, I can still remember its scent… This fragrance is an unusual take on exotic neroli flowers as it is entwined with herbal rosemary and mint, together with jasmine and oakmoss. A more in-depth review on the scent is available in my recent post. […]
