La Collection Vanille by Sylvaine Delacourte

My journey with Sylvaine Delacourte creations began many years ago. Yet then I didn’t even know that this beautiful lady is the nose behind the famous Guerlain Insolence, and could not even imagine that years later I would be chatting to her in Milan….

Back in 2009 I was just making my first steps into this fragrant world… And this time I am diving into the aromatic planet, called Vanilla!

Introducing – La Collection Vanille by Sylvaine Delacourte. The five different scents for a different day of the week. They all feature the natural scent of Madagascan Vanilla. I hope you enjoy reading on as much I did sampling the perfumes!

Virgile – an aromatic vanilla, a gentle and happy scent.

Rosemary + geranium + cedar + mandarin + bergamot + leather + rose + clary sage + vanilla: it is a beautiful blend that stays close to the skin and is very enjoyable. It feels somewhat very natural and pleasantly sweet. I have recently finished a course on Aromatherapy massage where I was introduced to the natural essential oils, their uses and benefits as home remedies. So to me this gorgeous rosemary- geranium- bergamot blend feels very natural and close to a mix of essential oils I was making at my classes. I just love it 🙂

Vangelis – a spicy vanilla, a gourmand scent.

Clementine + clove + jasmine + cardamom + black pepper + bitter almond + carnation + sandalwood + vanilla: after an initial powerful kick of medicinal-like oil-based herbs, this scent takes an unexpected turn to spicy almond-like sweetness. It feels just like standing in an Eastern kitchen where loads of different kind of spices are mixed and awakened to a different life with a touch of warmth of vanilla. A beautiful gourmand fragrance, suitable all year round, especially lovable during chilly autumn / winter months.

Vanori – a light and heavenly scent – a sunny vanilla.

Honey + jasmine + plumeria + grapefruit + pink pepper + sandalwood + styrax + benzoin + vanilla: it is that scent of sun-kissed skin! I am surrounded by white flowers and vanilla pods and honey. I feel like swimming in the sea of hot tropical sunshine as I sniff my wrist, even though we are nearing another rainy winter here in Ireland… 🙂 This perfume is so warming, so comforting, yet refreshing! It starts off quite fruity and cirtusy, quite light. But it increases in strength and I can’t take my nose off the wrist!.. This vanilla-like background has a slight resemblance to Dior Addict and Dior Hypnotic Poison… The perfume would be suitable all year around, even during colder winter months. Vanori has its own character of charming freedom – beautifully mastered sunshine in a bottle!

Vahina – a floral vanilla – a sweet candy-like fruity fragrance.

Orange blossom + mandarin + neroli + petit grain + tonka bean + osmanthus + bergamot + hawthorn + vanilla. I find this scent gentle, romantic, girly – very pleasantly creamy and dreamy. Ideal for young adolescents, and reminds me of early spring time when nature is about to burst with life and joy! To me, it associates with youth and innocence.

Valkyrie – fresh, citrusy vanilla.

It opens with a lovely combo of mint, basil, and lime…Slowly swings into a warm vanilla and orange scent, surrounded by galbanum and bergamot… Then rests on a bed of sandalwood… I really enjoy sniffing it! At first, it has a slight resemblance to Petit Matit by Maison Francis Kurkdjian, but later on, as notes change, this perfume becomes a beautiful and quite powerful skin scent… skin that has just been showered and moisturised… The scent doesn’t carry too far from the skin, and I love it! Valkyrie, an unforgettable warrior and adventurer, is the inspiration behind the fragrance.

Madagascan vanilla, in all Sylvaine Delacourte’s fragrances from this collection, blends wonderfully with the other notes.. I have never expected to discover that many aspects of vanilla! It can be sweet, caressing, but also spicy! It can be alluring and refreshing and even maturely bitter… I love how different vanilla can become!

The longevity of all the perfumes in the collection is very attractive, ranging between 6-12 hrs. And I do enjoy how the scents linger quite close to the skin.

La Collection Vanille shows the beautiful creative work by the gorgeous and amazingly talented Sylvaine Delacourte. ❤

La Collection Vanille comes out in 2018 and is available online at Sylvaine Delacourte webshop, also in the few boutiques around the world. Discovery box, as seen in the photo of this post, is available at €12 and you are able to test taste them all five vanilla scents. A full 100 ml bottle of either of the fragrances comes at €135. All perfume orders come with free delivery worldwide.

I do recommend checking out Delacourte website as very often the brand offers very attractive promotions. Like sometimes you would be able to purchase the discovery set for just €4!

You are very welcome to check out my short post about the Musk Collection by Sylvaine Delacourte. It does not include all the fragrances from the collection for now but I am looking forward to updating the post by the end of this year.

All the words and impressions are my own. All the prices are correct at the time of writing this post.

  1. I found at least 1 perfume in this collection that I’ll probably want to have and wear – Valkyrie, so I might go for the €35 set of 2 x 7.5 ml travel bottles.
Speaking of vanilla, have you tried La Maison de la Vanille perfumes? They also have a nice discovery box with vanilla perfumes based on different vanillas (though, I’m not sure if they actually come from different places or if it’s a “tribute”).
